Plug-in hybrid: consider your charging routine
A PHEV combines two energy sources. Comparing it properly means considering two patterns of use.
Short journeys with charging
If your daily trip fits within electric range and you charge regularly, a substantial share of driving can use no petrol. Actual electric distance still depends on version, conditions and how the system operates.
Long journeys and a depleted battery
On longer journeys, the petrol engine may play a greater role. Ask about depleted-battery consumption rather than treating it as identical to a brochure’s weighted figure. Two drivers of the same car may see very different energy costs.
Ask the right questions
Check electric range, AC charging capacity, whether DC charging is supported and included cables. Our calculator compares an electric scenario with a fuel scenario; it does not automatically predict a PHEV’s usage split.
