Buying advice

Electric car in Morocco without home charging: plan your routine

Before buying an EV without private charging, plan a realistic charging week. Start with your usual parking arrangements, not just brochure range.

Build two charging options

Identify a charger near work or somewhere you already spend time, then an accessible backup. For each, confirm the connector, opening hours, payment method and possible parking fees with the operator. A map is a planning aid, not an availability guarantee. Try the journey before buying.

Calculate a weekly budget

Hypothetical example: 250 km per week at 18 kWh/100 km means 45 kWh consumed by the car. Billed energy may be higher because of charging losses. Multiply billed kWh by the actual tariff and add any fixed fees. These figures illustrate the calculation; they are neither a Moroccan tariff nor a promised consumption figure for any model.

Include time and disruption

Record the detour, plugging-in time and what you can do during the session. If your only charger is inaccessible one evening, your backup must remain practical. Plan occasional longer journeys and an appropriate energy reserve too. A rental or extended test can help you try this routine before committing.

When to reconsider

If charging requires frequent detours or depends on one unverified installation, compare a non-plug-in hybrid too. A plug-in hybrid also needs a charging routine to make use of electric journeys. Decide from your measured constraints rather than assuming every driver will save the same amount.
