Practical comparisons
BYD SEALION 5 or SEALION 7 in Morocco: plug-in hybrid or electric?
The SEALION name links two SUVs with different ownership needs. Start with their powertrains and your access to charging before comparing equipment.
Two different powertrains
The SEALION 7 is battery-electric. The SEALION 5 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid with a rechargeable battery and combustion engine. Both appear on BYD Morocco’s website, but that does not establish dealer stock or a delivery date. Request a quotation identifying the exact version.
Your weekly routine before specifications
Write down the distance of five typical days, where you park and two charging options. For an EV, plan occasional longer trips too. For a plug-in hybrid, estimate how many journeys will actually begin after charging: having a petrol engine does not make plugging in irrelevant.
Compare range on the same basis
Request electric-only range, test cycle and the applicable version separately. A number combining fuel and battery cannot be compared directly with another model’s electric range. Weighted PHEV fuel consumption alone does not describe a trip with a depleted battery. Unconfirmed figures remain blank in our model records.
Questions to take to your test drive
Confirm total price, trim, supplied cables, local warranty and repair arrangements. Test parking, rear seats and luggage space against your actual needs. Finally compare energy costs using your tariffs and mileage, without treating a simulation as a savings promise.
